Memorable Day

I just love holidays that fall on Monday. When Shawn was a youth minister, that was his day off anyway, so I always felt jipped. When he decided to preach, I made sure he asked for Friday off instead of Monday. Two days before Memorial Day, some of our friends asked what was planned for Monday. We had no idea but got right on it. We planned to all meet at a beautiful county park for food and games. Though rain threatened us the day before, I just prayed really hard that it would be good weather. The rain plan was to come to my house and I really didn't feel like cleaning up. God is good of course, and the weather was even better than we expected. We had a lot of couples come and enjoyed playing wiffle ball, eating homemade ice cream, and sitting in the shade and laughing. The only thing that could have made the day better would have been to finish it off by jumping in a pool!

Happy Backwards Day!

I should be blogging about my 10th anniversary today, but I sort of did that last week plus I have a hilarious story for today anyway. So, Happy 10th to us! Yeah we made it this far! Anyway, this morning after Elle got up, I was helping her get clothes to wear. She wanted to wear some "play" shorts and I wanted to her to pick between a pair of blue jean short and khaki shorts...still play shorts, but nicer. She wasn't having it at all so I picked for her. Then we had the same issue with a shirt. She began having the first of what will probably be 27 breakdowns today and so I calmly told her that she could come downstairs for breakfast when she had her clothes on. So about 30 minutes later after stomping, jumping, screaming and having a freak out session, she calmly came out of her room with a really horrible look on her face. She walked past me then stopped and turned around and said in a mean voice "I don't want to wear these clothes at all so I'm wearing them backwards!" I'm not sure if she was trying to make me mad or what, but I just started laughing which made her more angry and then to add the icing on the cake, I grabbed my camera and took pictures. She isn't too happy this morning and she's all turned around too!

While I'm on the subject of Elle, this was her room yesterday morning. I think I can say with confidence that this is the dirtiest it has ever been! It only took her about 4 hours to clean it up! What a day!

1,2,3 strikes, you're out!

Shawn and the guys from church had their first game last night. Didn't start off too well. The umpires were jerks and walked out and made our team forfeit the game before we even began. They said we didn't have our roster in on time. Mind you this was the first year and first game that we've played in this league. The other team played us for fun anyway. This morning the league president got a lot of unhappy phone calls from the players and we have been rescheduled to make up this game later on due to the cruddy behavior of the umpires. :) So the other team pretty much crushed our guys in a bad way. But they did comment that they wished they had had fans like us because we were so nice to them when they did well. If nothing else, all pride has vanished on our team and we'll be humbly playing from here on out! What fun! The best part is that I brought home a husband that wasn't injured!

Happy 45th Birthday Yamme!

(Yes, she's really young and Ava calls her Yamme instead of Gramme. )Barbara came and stayed with the girls while Shawn and I went on our trip. The girls had a wonderful time with her of course and were begging us to let them go with her when she left. It was so sweet. Before she left, we took her "out" to eat for her birthday...she picked Papa John's Pizza (yes!) so we sort of didn't go out. Anyway, we also made her a brownie cheesecake and gave her a few gifts and sang to her. I'm so glad she was here close to her birthday :) Thank you for taking care of my girls Gramme!!!

Ava wants to be just like Gramme :)

She wants to be just like mommy too!

Ava and her Yamme :)

10 years minus 1 week

Shawn tried Swordfish...yummy!

This is the sandcastle we build. Just kidding! It's the front of the store that we went to to get the girls souveniers. You can barely see me in the front!

Jelly fish! They were all over the place and I think it was because we went in the morning.

Sandcastle building day #2...this was with no teacher's help. Not bad I think!

Sandcastle #1 with instructors help!

When we first stepped on the beach. We couldn't believe the size of the waves!

This past weekend, Shawn and I went to Corpus for our anniversary. Gramme came up Wednesday to watch the girls. We headed out after church Wed. nite. We stayed in San Antonio that night and then headed on to Corpus on Thursday morning. We spend Thursday learning to build sand castles and boogie boarding. Friday, we built more sand castles, boogie boarded more, went on the hunt for shells, gave ourselves 2nd degree burns, went and saw X-Men, and went to a baseball game! Saturday, we headed out to the huge pier on Padre Island and then packed up and headed home. Once I realized that the same water that I was swimming in was the same water that fishermen and women were fishing for shark in, I was done with the boogie boarding. Seriously? What was I thinking getting in that water? We had a wonderful and extremely exhausting time and we look forward to maybe taking the girls back to that area next summer!

Silly Girls

I have gotten a lot of pictures lately of my girls being silly. I think I'm rubbing off on them a little bit too much.
She was headed to the mall.

We interupt this program to bring you these curls....I love them!

After we registered Elle for Kindergarten, we took her to McDonald's by herself. She loved it!

Arrggghhh!!!!
