Mud Quest in the backyard

An alternate title might have been "This is why I'm happy to take hand me downs that have stains on them." Maybe Levi is trying to tell us that this summer bath schedule just isn't working for him. More than once a week would be nice and the swimming pool doesn't count, Mom. It all started so innocently with less than 2 Tbsp worth of mud in the back of the Tonka truck.

and 5 seconds later, it becomes this.

Then, I believe he lost touch with reality and began to think he was licking chocolate pudding.

What have I done to myself....I'm turning brown!!!!!

This chocolate pudding is a little grainy...okay a LOT grainy.

Okay, I had to put a stop to it. He was licking his fingers but then fussing when the grass and pebbles and dirt was stuck on his tongue. G-R-O-S-S.

Oh and after cleaning Levi up and going back outside, I see that Ava refuses to be outdone and shows we how proud she is of herself for burying her body in the muddy sandbox. Lovely.

Will the heat never end?

I guess God is working on our patience this summer and using hot miserable weather as the conduit. It seems that it will never end. The people up north have cabin fever in the winter because of the snow and cold. Down here, we have cabin fever in the summer because we will melt into a puddle on the sidewalk if we go outside after 7 am or before midnight. It's crazy and I surely can say that when you have a summer like this, it makes fall even more special and appreciated! So, the ONLY thing besides 58 popsicles a day, to help combat the heat....is the pool! I have actually built this little expense into our monthly budget. It costs between $5 and $7 per time for me to take the girls swimming. Occasionally, we get to go to our friends neighborhood pool which is FREE...but 30 minutes away. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. So, we packed the family up the other night and headed to the pool. All of us had a wonderful time and the girls are much more comfortable in the water now. Levi preferred to jump into my arms and them promptly get back out and walk around the outside of the pool for a good 5 minutes before jumping back in and starting all over. Guess walking trumps most everything right now :) Try to stay cool people.

Ava found these "googles" at the pool...pretty sure they weren't too useful unless you were trying to drown.

He's rather walk than swim.

#33 Revisited

After we got back from camp, Shawn and I wanted to go to Schlitterbahn with the money we had leftover from going to San Antonio back in June. We also wanted to see my parents and needed a babysitter for the day. We decided that while they were here, we'd celebrate my birthday since I didn't have a proper celebration at camp. lol So, they got to come down, and took me to TXLC and then back to the house for homemade icecream and a great gift! My mom crocheted a HUGE amount of fun baby hats, diaper covers, and cocoons for my photography business. They are amazing and I can't wait to start using them!!! Now, I just need a bunch of people to let me borrow their newborns!

Hot Fun in the Summertime

Well, it's been a little over a week since we returned from camp and I feel like we've finally settled back into the real world, and culture shock is beginning to wear off, so it's officially time for a blog update! First, if you don't have facebook, you will be missing out on most of the awesome pictures from camp. I do not have the time nor desire to post all 500 and something pictures from camp. But, if you're my friend on facebook, then you can go look at my favorite hundred and something pictures! Anyway, it was yet another wonderful year. This was year number 9, and I'm thinking one of my favorite years yet! I felt the most prepared that I've ever been and I wasn't nursing a child or pregnant and that was really nice! We also got to stay in the newest cabins that were finished in time for this summer and they were HIGH CLASS! I felt like I was staying in a hotel and the bathroom was nicer than mine at home. It was wonderful and makes every other aspect of camp easier when your home away from home for 2 weeks is really nice. I turned 33 while at camp this year and celebrated by sharing cupcakes with our class and then going four-wheelin in the woods with Shawn. There were a total of 9 1/2 cousins at camp this year and a grand total of 21 or 22 precampers which made it pretty crazy with so many kids....but starting in a year or two those precampers will begin to be campers and things will get a little quieter...at least for us teachers. We dressed up more than we ever have before, this year, and that was a lot of fun. I never will turn down a chance to dress up! We witnessed four baptisms, just from our H.S. class and these kids were on fire. There is nothing more encouraging that seeing the light bulb go off for these kids and watching them realize what they need to do to become a Christian. SO UPLIFTING! That never gets old and I cry every time! That's what this camp is all about. I sure do love it and am so very thankful that Shawn introduced me to it so many years ago! Anyway, while at camp another exciting thing happened. Mr. Levi really started walking! Not just a step or two, but really WALKING! And to prove it, he gave himself double black eyes. It was really bad at the time and had me pretty worried when it started swelling, but now, it's just about gone, and he's walking everywhere! Cutest thing ever (but I say that about everything he does). Speaking of Levi, we took him to his 15 month check up the other day and he's a whopping 19 lb 13 oz and 29 1/2 inches. So that means his in the 2% for his weight and the 10% for his height. The dr. checked his iron level too and that was perfect so I think she's finally realizing that he's just a runt and that's all there is to it! I'm sure he'll catch up eventually but right now he's TINY! And perfect. And super adorable. And happy. Couldn't ask for much more! So, camp was wonderful and we are all doing great! A few days less than a month left of summer and we plan to stay up too late, get a little too tan, eat a little too many popsicles and watermelon, and stay a little too dirty!
