We are on a mission to find the most awesomest place to go tent camping here in the hill country. We don't want to drive more than about an hour away. This past Saturday we headed to Bastrop State Park also known as The Lost Piney Woods. It was very pretty and very serene. We had a picnic with no one else around and then took a walk with the girls through the woods. They both loved it of course. Neither are very sure about the whole bug situation in the world, but they'll have to get over that! Although it was a pretty nice state park, I think we'll keep looking for a better place to tent camp....a little too crowded and roads are too close to the camping areas. Weather permitting, we are headed to McKiney Falls State Park Friday or Saturday to see if it's nice enough to camp at.

Let us know what your final verdict is - we love some good camping. Hope to be heading to Lake Murray in OK in a couple of weekends.
Is this your beetle?

Inks Lake State Park was popular with some people I used to work with.
I believe that's the one! I've just never seen one with those kind of "eyes" on the back. Also, Inks Lake is on the list to visit! :)
We camped at McKinney Falls this past weekend! It is great for hiking and swimming in the summer. When the water is high, there are some great waterfalls. But...there were a lot of RVs at the camping area. It wasn't separated into tent and RV camping sites, but it sure made for really clean bathrooms!! (Since the RV-ers had their own to go in!) It is also right next to the airport, about 3 miles west, so we heard planes and stuff all night. It wasn't bad, but wasn't the best either. Inks Lake is really great and Pace Bend Park! Good Luck! If you find a place and need some neighbors, let us know, we would love to come along!
