Another Campout Under our Belt

Last weekend our girl scout troop got to camp at LBJ State Park.  We had such a great time and FINALLY had good weather!  Our last two campouts have consisted of either flooding or temps that got below 30 degrees.  This campout was straight out of the books!  

One of the things that the Brownie's learned was how to fold a flag and how and when to retire a flag.

This flag was retired on our campout and one way you can do that is by cutting the blue starred rectangle apart from the flag and cutting all of the stripes away.  Later we had a ceremony and burned the parts of the flag.

Of course there's always dishwashing to be done....it was nice to actually have a sink this time.

While at the state park, we were able to go to a living history farm and experience what people lived like in the late 1800's.  It was so cool.

After that, we headed to the Texas Whitehouse where LBJ lived with his wife, while president.  We were able to tour his actual house, which was set up EXACTLY like it had been in the late 60's when he was president.  It was so so so cool!

After the tour and answering some questions, our troop was sworn in as official Junior Rangers.

It had been a long long day at the point.  Everyone was so very tired.  We headed a few miles up the road to WildSeed Farms to get some peach icecream and relax for a little bit.  That icecream hit the spot and gave us the energy to keep going!

For dinner Saturday night, we had foil packed dinners and they were the best I've ever had!  So simple...and so yummy!

After dinner we did our flag ceremony and burned the different pieces of the flag.

And of course no camping trip is EVER compete without S'Mores....with peeps!  It was a very successful campout!

If you are ever in the Fredericksburg area, I highly recommend the living history farm and the Texas Whitehouse....and maybe some peach icecream up the road.
