Las Vegas, NM
One day of our vacation, we decided to head back to civilization and see if it was still thriving without us. What's weird and creepy is that on the 25 minute drive out of the mountains, we passed about a dozen cars parked on the side of the road with no one around. They were all in different locations and none were really close together, but I was telling Shawn that if we believed in the idea of the rapture, we would have been freaking out! We still don't know why all those cars were parked along that stretch of road, with no people in site. It was a bit creepy. Anyway, usually when we are in Las Vegas, it's during camp and we are rushing...we either have laundry to do, making a quick trip to Walmart, or going out to eat with all the teachers while all the campers do an all day hike. Usually we don't feel like there's enough time to just stroll through the town looking for the holes in the wall. We had a good time eating at a restaurant we go to during camp and found an awesome bookstore that has a wonderful children's room in it. There was a pretty park too where the girls just ran around a little. We also found a drug store that had a working soda fountain and icecream area but we were too full from lunch to try it out. We'll definitely go there next summer on the teacher's day off!
