Cedar is prolific here in Central Texas. 99.9% of the time, that is not a good thing. Austin is known as the "Allergy Capital of the World" for this reason. But, there is one tiny redeeming quality of the overpopulation of cedar. Every year around December 1st, those cedar trees, the ones that look like Christmas trees, start getting decorated like a Christmas tree. It's everywhere! We drive a long stretch of road on a daily basis and it has lots of nature areas and we have counted around 20 trees decorated like a Christmas tree in the last few weeks! It is so much fun to find new ones and see how people have decorated them. Finally, after living here 7 years, we went and found our own little tree to decorate not far from our house. We made sure and found one that we will see every single time we have to go anywhere!

I love this! While on a frequent drive, we used to enjoy watching for a little tree that grew in the middle of a field in Ohio. Every year that evergreen tree was decorated and strung with Christmas lights. We always wondered who did it and how it was done. Typically, power isn't ran to the middle of a bare cornfield. :) Traditions are great!
